SOUTH  JORDAN  CITY’S  FIRST  INTERNATIONAL  FOLKLORE  FESTIVAL

CELEBRATES  SESQUICENTENNIAL YEAR

Dancers and musicians from Hungary, Mexico, Poland and the USA will celebrate South Jordan City’s Sesquicentennial during the City’s first “INTERNATIONAL DAYSAugust 10-15. Highlighting the week’s activities will be “Folklore Fun & Summer Bash” at The District on Friday August 14 and “Concerts of Culture” at Bingham High School on Saturday August 15.

Folklore Fun & Summer Bash” at the District will include Chalk Art competition starting at 3 pm with judging at 8 pm. Street Animations performed by the International Folklore Ensembles, free snow cones, stage entertainment by local ethnic groups and a street dance sponsored by 101.5 The Eagle where everyone can learn dances from Hungary, Poland and Mexico as well as country line and swing…all to the music of live bands. Concerts of Culturewill feature performances by “Bartók” Dance Ensemble from Budapest, Hungary, “Maty Slask” from Radzionkow, Poland, “Missael” from San Luis Sonora accompanied by the Marachi Band “Calafia” and “Clog America” representing the USA. A Pre-Show will feature local International Children’s Dance Groups including performances by the Crawford School of Irish Dance representing Ireland, “Fantasy and Folklore” representing Mexico and “Stars Unlimited Cloggers” representing the USA. “Concerts of Culture” will be sponsored by the Bingham High Dance Company with the Pre-Show beginning at 7:00. International Days” will be the final week for the 2009 Sights and Sounds of Summer. During the week, the International Groups will also appear in elementary school assemblies and Daybreak events.

International Days works in collaboration with Bountiful/Davis Art Center’s. Special Thanks to Bountiful/Davis Art Center for two countries from the 21st Summerfest International, August 5-8, 2009 at Bountiful City Park (400 N. 200 W.), Bountiful, UT.
